| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hey all, Got a little problem so i will explain, I bought a 22" monitor to replace my old 17" monitor, but i wanted to run them together so that i can watch TV on the second monitor while playing a game on the first monitor. First problem i hit was the fact that the Gainward 7950GX2 doesnt allow u to run two monitors. So i decided to put my old X700 into the second graphics slot so that i could run both monitors, installed the drivers for the second card, and i can extend my desktop onto this monitor fine. So i load up a game and load up my TV tuner, try to drag the TV program onto the second monitor but it errors and doesnt display anything on the second monitor says "Due to limitations of your computers display device, this video can only play back on one of your monitors." I type dxdiag in the run command and got to display 1 and all the information is there fine, go to display 2 and it says that DirectDraw, Direct3D and AGP texture are all unavailable. And the enable button is greyed out. Have i done something wrong? I went onto microsofts website and there is a help page about how to fix direct3d disabled problems but none of them work. I think it is something to do with the fact that it is runnin along side another card but still i dont see why that should be a problem. They should be able to run independantly of each other surely. So is there any suggestions from anyone? I thought have one card running direct x and the other opengl but i dunno how to change that for the second card. Well hopefully see a reply from someone soon. Thanks all. I have uploaded a picture with the dxdiag page if anyone wanted to see the problems. | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | hmm another quick question for ya, ive set up the dual monitors and its working ok. Only thing is wen i try to drag a video or my TV tuner program onto the second monitor it says: "Due to limitations of your computers display device, this video can only play back on one of your monitors. Please move the video window completely onto that monitor." Anyone got any suggestions on how to make the second monitor able to recieve video. Still saying that direct3d etc isnt available on the second card. | |

| I'm pretty sure this is one of Direct X 9's limitations. Its never worked as seamlessly with dual monitors. I will try and find the article tommorow but I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to do what you want without a lot of driver hacking. I would try googling Direct X Dual Monitor Limitations. I'm sure there's probably a Microsoft document that explains it all somewhere. | ||
