| I just recently got a new 8800GTX, but I'm having a few issues with it. When running benchmarking apps (such as 3d06) I'm only getting like 40% of what I should (if you compare it with benchmark reviews from sites like Xbit, etc). For example, in 3d06 I only get 2000 when it should be getting at least 4-5 times that. Here's what I've got in the box: Mobo: ASUS A8N-SLI (BIOS: 1017-004) CPU: Dual Core Opteron 175 RAM: 2GB (4x512MB) Corsair XMS (2-2-2-5 latency) Video: XFX 8800GTX HD: 500GB Hitachi SATA II PSU: TT Toughpower 700W Software-wise I have Forceware 97.44 installed and DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) installed. Running WinXP SP1 on a fresh format and install. Any ideas what could be holding it back? Last edited by crash_maxed; 24-December-06 at 11:25 AM.. | ||

| The G80 cards rely on CPU scaling and if you don't overclock your CPU you won't see the performance you should be getting. I suggest also you try the v91.47 drivers: WinXP/2k 32-bit - (91.47) Also try the latest WHAL drivers: ForceWare Windows XP/2000 32-bit | ||

| Another major issue i've found with 3dmark and PCmark all around is they hate SP1, try updating to SP2 and running it again, it probally doesnt read you CPU correct and 3Dmark is only running one core. This was a major problem when i went to dual core and all my benchmarks where only running single core I alsodid an article on the fresh installs, and it shows that SP2 also has a major advantage at stock (not really like thousands of point but it beats everything at stock speeds) So unless you feel like OCing, SP2 is the way to go, if you want to OC that opty, which would be a really wise move for performance and benchmarking stop by the overclocking section and myself and a few others will be more than happy o help you out on your system OCing. | ||

| You need to install xp SP2. Have you installed the AMD driver? AMD Opteron™ Processor Utilities & Updates | ||

On a brand spanking new install (newer than the one that I made the first post of this thread on) w/ SP2. Has all drivers, latest nForce 4 SLI chipset and Forceware drivers installed. AMD driver has already been installed (been in my toolbox since I built this thing). Makes no difference. I can force settings like 16xQ AA and 16x Aniso via the nvidia control panel and in the FEAR performance test (the thing you can run in the options panel) I'm hitting minimum of 26fps, max of 104fps, and average of 47fps. 85% over 40fps. 3d06 continues to hate me but every game I throw at the 8800 is hitting fps on par with those in reviews by places like Xbit (X-bit labs - Articles - 25 Signs of Perfection: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX in 25 Benchmarks) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I have the latest BIOS on my A8N-SLI. I could easily see the huge performance jump on a new BIOS rev w/ your 680i board as there have been quite a few problems with that chipset. Here's superpi with processor affinity set to one core. ![]() Last edited by crash_maxed; 24-December-06 at 10:38 PM.. | ||
