Hello all, long time no been on this board.

Anywho, down to brass tacs.

I just recently formatted and got my windows xp and upgrades installed and ****, along with directx 9c

I went to go install the new 6.11 catalyst drivers for my radeon 9800pro 256mb

I've done this countless times before but this time, when i go into the control center and into the smartgart section, it shows all the AGP things off, like write and read, and the speed for the card is at 0, when it normall is at 8x like it should be

so i checked my bios and its set to agp mode, and the memory for the card is set to 256mb but it still is disabled in smartgart in the catalyst control center.

i try setting it back to 8x in the smartgart and turn on the other agp settings, save and reboot but it goes right back to being disabled when windows starts up again.

im sporting a ASUS K8N-E Deluxe motherboard that has given me no problems yet through all my previous formats, this never happened before



On a side not too i rolled back the drivers, wiped it with driver cleaner and the standard stuff and reverted back to 6.10 catalyst to see maybe if that would help but no dice.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too am having these problems with my 9500 Pro and Asus mobo.

But I don't know as it is really a problem... BF1942 plays just fine, no noticable change. Perhaps it is running "AGP" but the catalyst panel is showing something else.

The other thing I was thinking about was not installing the control panel and using only the device driver.

yeah thats fine and dandy just installing the drivers but i wanna be able to mess around with the A.I. and adaptive anti aliasting or however you spell it

never the less, i can get games to play, but i do know them to be a bit sluggish over all. so i need to solved this pickle

Actually I just got it to work, I know I installed my nividia nforce 3 mobo drivers before but they must not have installed right or something to that effect cause I just reinstalled them

set the agp stuff in the smartgart, rebooted and now it works!
