Default problem with sli connector ...

hey need some advice
for some reason my mobo doesnt think my 2 gfx cards are connected ...
dont understand y as the sli bridge is on ...
a lil windows bubble pops up and sez there is no sli bridge .... etc

is it possible to use a different brand connector ? as i have a dfi one lying around from my burnt out dfi board ......if it fits that is
or should i juz return the mobo .... as its a 1 for 1 warranty exchange for the first yr so wouldnt have to wait for rma ....

current specs:
opty 146
asus a8n-sli premium
1 gb ocz performance ram
2x msi 6600gt
1x maxtor hdd
1x wd sata hdd

At the risk of frying your parts...

I would assume that the sli bridge would have to be made to a standard, and if it fits, my guess would be that it would work.

If it doesn't, then RMA the board.

You don't need an SLi bridge anymore. The link is enabled at a software level in the lastest nVidia drivers.

Just covering the basics here but do you have the sli selector in the bios set to auto?

And if you do it takes a couple of reboots to get it running, the first reboot to enable the hardware, and the second to enable the software. Makes me love my DFI board ever so much more.

ok thanks guys managed to fix the dang thing ....
after installing the latest driver and about 4 restarts ...a switching the bridge round a couple of times ....
it works
anyhow thanks for the advice ..
.
@ dex ....i dont think the software bridging works on all motherboards .... cause my asus kept complaining about the missing bridge ....

Thats slightly odd, my motherboard is quite old, a Gigabyte K8NXP SLi and it has never moaned about not having an SLi bridge...

Maybe an updated mobo BIOS would enable that feature on your board.
