Thumbs up Kudos to EVGA RMA process!!

I posted a thread a while ago about my video card (7900GTX) making a weird "bizzing" sound . . .

See thread here

I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally sent the card to EVGA last Tuesday (10/24/2006) and they received it on Friday (10/27/2006). I figured about a week for processing and verifying my "malfunction".

Well, they've CERTAINLY exceeded my expectations. A new card is on its way as of this morning. TWO business days for turnaround AND shipment.

If I could give +Rep points for EVGA I would most certainly be doing so for the next two weeks!!!

I hope this information helps people who are considering EVGA for the up and coming 8800s. They may have sold me a bunk card but, they've certainly done all they could to remedy the situation and that's all I ask.

when i was looking for a new video card I picked EVGA because of good things i hear of thier support. The 7900gt cards were known to have problems so good support was important to me. That being said I have yet to have a problem with mine

Ya got me thinking, that would be neat if you could, in some way or another. Like have a thread that lists different hardware makers and give them a rating on such things as RMA and customer support.

It's funny you say that IceMage. I was thinking the same thing as I typed the quote you used.

I'm not sure how it could work on this site, but I definitely think many would benefit from a forum on pcApex in which we simply type in our customer experiences with the big name companys in this industry.

You could have a "Customer Experiences" forum and then sub-forums for each company. I know that would be a TON of sub-forums, but I think that would be the best way to organize it so feedback for any specific company could be easily located.

It's a good thought, IceMage.

I'd back that. The problem is, there are so many graphics card manufacturers in particular that it's difficult to find out which ones are good and which ones aren't. Most of the time we have to go on company image or price.

Well . . . as the old adage has always stated . . .

TIME WILL TELL . . .

I've finally had an opportunity to put my recently returned RMA'ed 7900GTX through some paces (3DMark2003) and unfortunately I still have artifacting.

As soon as the benchmark gets to Battle of Proxycon, there are all sorts of black specks that show up on the soldiers' faces and uniforms. In addition, all shots of the star-filled "space" that you see through the windows of the space ship have multi-colored dots in a 3-D grid pattern. Grrrrrr.

I know for sure that the 7900GTX that was shipped back to me from eVGA is the same one I sent to them. I placed a VERY SMALL indelible mark on the card before I shipped it and this one has the same mark. The card no longer makes the annoying "bizzing" sound, but the artifacts remain.

I'm going to see if I can contact them and at least attempt to have them eat the shipping for getting it to them this time, seeing that they have yet to solve my problem.

I'll post an update as soon as I have something to post.

I spoke with eVGA and they told me that the card was returned and not replaced.

Evidently something was wrong with my RMA. For some reason, the rep that I spoke with felt that something was awry and asked me to photograph the card and email the photos to him. He thinks that there's a possibility that the card may have been shuffled through the RMA process without being actually "processed".

He also indicated that this card, being bought from an ebay e-tailer, may not be eligible for RMA or Warranty. He knew immediately that I wouldn't be happy with that but assured me that he would do everything he could to get the card RMAed. His quote was, "Your customer satisfaction is more important to us than a recent stipulation we placed in the Terms of the Warranty."

Whether that's true or not remains to be seen but, it was certainly nice to hear.

I'll be back with updates when they're available.

EDIT: The '03 install is working. I'm able to verify because fortunately the other 7900GTX in my SLi setup is working beautifully and runs the bench with no complaints. Thanks for the thought, though Cpt.!!
