Default 7800GTX or 7900GT: how different are they

Ive been looking at both 7900GT and the 7800GTX from evga.
both are priced around the same. Im trying to decide on which one.
What do you guys think?? also, is there any particular brand that stands above the rest (ie evga, bfg, asus etc.)
Thanks PCapex

They all are the same cards wether you get BFG, eVGA, XFX and so on. The 7900GT is a little bit more optimized for newer games. Having owned both I liked my 7900GT alot better.

The 7900GT uses less juice and runs cooler, which is why it can tote the smaller copper heatsink.

One concern is related to the overclocking done by the company (XFX, BFG, eVGA, etc.) where the default overclock is more than the GPU can handle. If you have problems you could try bringing down the clock rates.

I went with XFX and this problem didn't apply to me, In fact I bumped it UP to 550/830 using Coolbits. I am using a Zalman VF900 @ 5V though.

Could you fix your sig? I don't have a widescreen monitor and you're making the screen look funny.

What he meant was put a blank line between your sigs. Make them on two lines instead of one. With them the way they are, it screws with the window size and forces us to scroll over just to read posts.
