Help! Full screen apps minimize on X1800XT.

My brother has a sapphire x1800xt 512mb. It has been running fine since the middle of april. A couple of days ago it started acting up. When he tries to run a game it will come on in full screen then it will minimize to the desktop. Usually it doesn't even get past the first logo screen. This happens on all full screen apps, basically games.

Here is everthing I've tried:
Reinstall games.
Clean and reinstall the latest drivers.
Reinstall windows.
Pull and reseat card.
Clean card fan.

System specs:
AMD athlon 64 3700 skt 939
Asus A8N5X
Sapphire X1800XT 512MB
Antec Neo HE 550W
2gb Patriot PC3200
160gb WD sata

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm i think you need to apply a patch from MS.

I read this some where but dont remember since i too have the same problem on my other pc

EDIT: Did you do an automatic update from MS before this happend?

If you are using the GUI version of Folding@Home, that could be the cause.

Just shut Folding@Home down, then start the game.

Yeah, I used to get that when I was running F@H, until I switched to the console version.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems to be working now.

The problem might have been a bad driver w/ the mobo(nic or sound).
