| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | Well the issue of what card is better out of a FX5900 Ultra and a Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb have been discussed over and over.....I think that its safe to say there is no right answer so far. I am trying to make my decision a little easier. What I want to know is which of the 2 cards (FX5900 Ultra and Radeon 9800 Pro) has the best software to go with it. For example I will like to be able to work with s-video. Maybe even dual monitors in the future. But which has the most user friendly ways of doing this? One problem I have experienced with my current card (GF 3 Ti200) is I can not watch my monitor and my tv at the same time, it is either on my monitor or the tv. Both would be awesome because I can put a movie on the tv and then do work on the computer at same time. I know there are probably much more features than just tv-out but I have not experienced them with my current card. Please let me know what yall think. Thanks alot, TyP3-R

![]() | I am running a monitor on onboard video and a TV off a PCI GF4. Nvidia's twinview system works great, but as buzz says, you need twin ramdacs or two video cards my old AGP GF3 was incapable of doing the job, but I ran a second video card in a PCI slot to deal with it. Then I sold it to get a GF4 But I miss my old GF3! In a lot of situations, (video editing and such) running two monitors off of one card can decrease performance if you have an empty PCI slot, get a second Nvidia card. I wish I had.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Radeon software is the most friendly I have used. The dual monitor support is wicked, my 9000 pro has svideo out, and a DVI port, and the adapter to reg svga, so lots of options to hook a 2nd monitor up. Im my opinion, the catalyst suite is the best driver suite for a video card out there. |

| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | Thanx guys, Also, anyone know the noise difference between the two cards? I know MSI's 128mb FX5900 is awesome but what about the 256mb 9800 and the 128mb 9800? Basically if I can hear it over my HSF then it is loud

Nothing tops the ATi for performance, looks, drivers, user interface, and aesthetic value. You cannot see both TV-Out and VGA at the same time on your Ge3 because the GeForce 3 line of cards only have Single RAMDAC's, which makes them unable to process more then one output at once. Both the GFFX and 9800 Pro can run Multiple displays (2-to-3), in independant or mirror display modes. Mmm...ATi Goodness... | |||||||||||||||||||
