Default how to find drivers for onboard video

hello, i'm trying to help out a friend of mine, he's running a intel celeron 2.2Ghz processor and is using onboard video. We recently formated the hard drive and he lost the drivers for the video display, now the computer runs all choppy. anyways, I'm trying to find out what kinda of chipset he has to determine which video drivers he needs.

Ermm.. Ok... First we need to know what type of mobo he has in his system. We can go from there on the drivers.

I think the chipset is Intel(R) 82801BA/CA PCI Bridge - 244E, hope that's enough information. As for what type of mobo he has, we don't know.

Go to www.cpuid.com and download PC Wizard. Install it, and use it to find the Motherboard's model number.

Go to Start, right click my computer, go to properties, when the screen loads to got to device manager, expand all the options, any that have a little yellow exclamation mark or symbol next to them need drivers and they should all say the name of the hardware making finding the drivers easy.

Where did the PC come from?

I personally use Everest Home Ed. http://www.lavalys.com

If it detects what you're running it will even provide URL's for you to click on to update drivers, BIOS's, firmware and it's sexy too

PLUS it can show you your o/c in %, your temperatures for all supporting devices with temp probes (yes I said probe, stop snickering...). Fan speeds, voltages of all devices, etc. mmm... voltage.

EDIT: Crud, I just noticed that as of today they've discontinued the Home Edition version (which was free and fully functional for a home user). They do have a trial version though! I'll see if I can get the Home Ed installer still on my system and see if I can upload it to PR (if such a thing is even allowed??)

That motherboard is an Asus OEM motherboard.. supplied to HP amongst others.. I hope you know the HP model since it's used on quite a few:

Echo GL Asus P4G533-LA/P4G533-GL (10/16/2003-I845G/ICH4/IT8708-P4G533LA ) : 354n (US/CAN), 525w, 533w (serno MX IT8708F), a210n, a206x, a345w, a336n, a335w, a328d, a320d, a318d, a316n, a312d, a307i, a305wm, a305w, a305i, a300n, a424x, a422n, a412n

This might help you here

If you could tell the model of desktop you have then we can definitely get you on the right track for sure.

And of that there's a few hundred models lol.

Try this link, your motherboard is using an Intel 82845G/GL/GV/GE/PE Integrated Graphics Device.

Intel's Driver Link

Try the Intel link...or if that one didn't work, try the one AriesJJ linked to.

If THAT doesn't work , then 3rd time is the charm and post the model of the HP Pavilion (usually on a sticker somewhere). Overload us with information if you can The more the merrier and we can fix your problem much faster too

The link in my previous post covers the entire 500 model spectrum that contain the specified motherboard. It should fix you right up.

Most "Older" motherboards have all the info on a sticker on the bottom side of the lowest PCI slot. Sometimes you can read it using a mirror. Most of the time you need to lift the board out.

Unhappy

kk, I have pretty much the same scenario as "coolerguy", I reformatted for a friend, drivers lost, etc. NONE of the drivers I downloaded from hp.com worked for me... and it was a huge hassle considering the loss of the ethernet driver, lol. But I did find a CD that I was able to install the audio driver, ethernet driver, and USB driver, now everything works but the video... I did look at the driver you recommended, but it didn't work, just as any of the other drivers I tried, when I installed, I accept terms of service, it throws stuff on the hard drive, but then it opens up Device Manager and tells me I need to install it through there.
Of course, I did try, but still no solution. I -really- have no solution for it, and my friend is really stressed cause he can hardly do anything now.
