Ah, nevermind... I threw in one of my random video card CD's from a while back, and it worked...
Honestly, I have no idea how, there is no WAY they are the same series video card, maybe just the same brand. I was very surprised, oh well, everyone's happy. Thanks anyways.

(( Btw, I don't see why I would need all this technical information about my motherboard when using a general video driver worked... ))

Glad your video card worked , but , if you ask for help, and then come back with the above quote , i for one think thats a bit rude, and just because you have video, im bettin it aint workin as good as it could if you went and found the DRIVER for it.

*sigh*
I wasn't being rude, I was just curious.
And I already told you, I DID find the driver for it... It just didn't work.
Nothing much I could have done.

It's probably a communications barrier thingy. We're technical, you're not so much

Nothing wrong with being curious, we can explain why your generic driver 'worked'. Chances are it's an Intel chipset based or ATI based, and their driver CD's contain the drivers for a vast majority of their cards and chipsets. As you're aware theres also probably another dozen or so video chipset manufacturers (ALi, SiS, nVidia, Matrox, etc). Then there's subsets of each manufacturer, like Rage, Radeon, Mach, Mobility, Intel Pro, Intel xTreme, Intel WhosUrDaddy, etc.

Hence you can say you have an Intel video, which isn't enough to download a driver for.

BTW, your sentence of 'I DID find the driver... it just didn't work'...obviously says you didn't find the RIGHT driver You found A driver, hence the above explanation.

Computers are easy, since you are up and running though, I'd suggest making yourself a DRIVER CD, in the event you... format, reinstall, get hacked, run across a nasty worm/virus, etc. Download all the drivers your system needs to have installed after a fresh install, it will definitely make your life much easier.

We're all here to help, we asked for an Everest or something similar to dump your video information so we can actually help you download the proper driver. We can all guarantee that it will increase performance, fix glitches/problems, and generally make things more stable for you.

So go on... give us the chance to help you out a bit, that way once you've got the proper driver installed, cut it to a CD

Lol, thanks for pwning me in detail. ^^
I am technically... Just I don't wanna go through the hassle of downloading something I am unfamilar at his house on his computer, just so you can tell me it probably won't work...
Because from what I saw, for the other guys problem, you ended up just linked something from the HP site which has already been proven to not work. Gives me an error I'm completely unfamilar with and the only thing I can think of is that it's a corrupt driver, or a corrupt installation of XP. =\
Although, if my friend would have been more observant... He wouldn't have lost his driver disk in the first place.

That is a good advice.

i use to do that having a cd call driver/utiliy & put everything on it drivers & all

but now i've got 2 hd(1x160gig 1x200 gig) i did 2 partition on my 200 gb 1 (C) for window & the other (D) for games.
& my second hd 160 gb i've got only 1 partition (E) (160 gb) & i use it for drivers , uyility , video editing , backup files etc...

this way when i format my windows partition (C) i reinstall everything form my 160 gb hd (E) & it,s goes alot faster this way to reinstall all.

Anyway always backup your files & drivers on your cd or your hd (if got more the one partition or 2 hd) & keep it safe.

Well seeing as you don't give any technical information about the pc in question it's a wonder anyone tried to help you.

On the other hand we're glad you fixed your problem, although you should have some interest in what drivers you were installing on the box (that is if you are technicaly minded).

All I did was ask a question, you don't have to go and be a fsckn ass to me. If I wanted bull**** I would have asked for it from a prick like you zombie. Everyone else has been nice about it(sorta), and you just gotta be the biggest dickface on the forum...

By the way, 'technicaly' isn't a word dip****.

(This will be my last response to the forums because I don't want another comment from dickface over there. So just quit life please... kkthx)

Ah jeez..
Both of you.. in opposite corners.... time out. *blows whistle*

Baris don't leave, there's always gonna be a jerk response to any forum, at least you asked a valid question, and you're perfectly able to not care about your buddies computer ( I certainly don't care about my buddies and their computers - even if they ask me to fix it all the freakin time...but they buy beer so that's a good trade).

As for technically and 'technicaly', I don't think anyone here is a spelling or grammar nazi. We got the jyst of your message (hey I probably spelled that wrong too lol).

At least you contributed a valuable message (I feel anyways) that other people reading can get a grasp of the difficulties you ran into with your buddy's computer. How many people have a Dell, HP/Compaq or other brand-name computer, lost an installation CD?? Lots I bet (including my buddies lol).

Your post was worthwhile, stick around, make a few more

The name calling / bad language isn't needed.

I felt I was making valid points, but that aside I didn't mean to offend you, just to point a few things out. Stick around 'cause I honestly didn't mean anything by it.
