Default best card for under $120??

im looking into buying a new video card, and im willing to spend around $120. i have an athlon 2100+ @150x15 = 2.25ghz, 512 pc2100 @ 150 and i would like to know what card will perform the best on my system. ive been leaning towards a ti4200 128mb @ 512mhz memory.... is there anything better for the price?

I don't think you're going to find anything that will out-perform the Ti4200 in that price range. The only newer cards that are as cheap are the Fx5200 or Radeon 9200, neither of which is better than the Ti4200 (unless you absolutely need DX9 compatibility).

i sit on the cash untill i got enough for a 9500 pro, but other than that the 4200 is the highest performing card at that price.

The 4200 still has a lot of horsepower, and if you choose your card carefully, you can reach 4600 level performance.

Newegg has the Sapphire Ati 9500 non-pro for $165 that can possible take a soft mod and hard mod that could push it into 9700 spec range. I know you said $120, but I'm thinkin for $45 more.....

Ill have to second mostly everybodys opnion, and say if you cant spend a little more go with the TI4200.

Though if you can get the 45 or 50 dollors extra somehow, go with the ATI 9500

For $100 I got a Geforce FX 5200 so i stuck a better cooling unit on for 10 bucks and was ready to roll. It has 128 mg of ram and the memory is very overclockable. I think it out performs most of the 4200s out there.

Save up and get a ATi Radeon 9500 Pro; you'll be glad you did.

i was looking at the 5200, but its hardley a step up from the geforce 4 mx440 - 8x. and the 5200 ultra is about 35% slower than the ti4200. im looking for a bit higher performance and overclockability

The FX 5200 is definately nowhere near equivalent to the TI 4200.

Different league altogether!

The TI 4200 of course being the better card.

what is so much greater about the 9500 pro, over the ti4200? its only about 3% better on average. and with the ti4200's overclocking... why would i go with a more expensive card for such a small increase in performance?

WHAT? I think the TI4200 has some power but if you overclock the FX 5200 there is no comparison. And when full DX 9 games come out the TI 4200 will run home to momma.
