Default x850xt pe or not?

If you seen my previous posts about TigerDirect's lying advertisements, then you know I have a Connect3D X850XT PE that ultimately will cost me $300 and not the $200 advertised. But anyway, since this card is on the way out, and appearently I'm being forced to spend that kind of money, does anyone think I should go another route in buying or is this still worth it?

Bonus Question (100 points to who ever gets this): I just beat HL2 on my old 9600xt do you think it might be able to do any attempt at the HDR laden Lost Coast?

Lost coast runs on my rommies 9600xt. Not all the goodies, but it works. Theres really not much to play, it takes about 10 minutes, its more a tech demo than anything else.

I played it on a 9600XT as well. It'll run OK at 800x600 Medium quality.

You guys know that the bonus points only count when you answer the first question!?! So yeah, Played LC started on 1024 but then bumped down to 800, but I kept all other settings to high, not that it appeared that way, but the bloom effects still looked amazing, loved the thing with "eyes" adjusting to the light, did that few times, and I was surprised how nice the old man looked, and it seemed the muzzle flashed off the combine looked nicer too, but yeah, back to the original question guys,

is the x850xtpe the best card for 300?

Wanna see something cool, take the rocket launcher and shine the laser into shallow watter.

I have a x850xt pe Xctacy and i love it. it takes out the 6800ultra no problem and with better image quality. i put a Arctic cooling Ati silencer 5 rev.2 on mine and i can clock it to 594/1200 with no arifacts. now i could prolly go higher because of the cold weather (i tested it during the summer).

to answer youre question, YES

oh yeah! stay with the x850 platinum. it is still definitely one of the best cards around. hell, my x800xt runs everything i need great and i absolutely love it. it'll tide me over until my next major upgrade.

keep the x850, it's well worth the money.

I'd stick with the x850XT PE unless its PCI-E, in which case, i'd go for an x850Pro or x800GT02 to save a bit on the practically same (when OC'd/unlocked to XT PE status; pretty much a given for the R480 core) cards..
