![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just upgraded my dad's computer from a POS P4 system to an Athlon 64 system when I discover that the X700 Pro croaked, I'm guessing due to ESD. Also this system was supposed to be the third most powerful rig in my F@H farm. Right now I need a new card and I want to spend about $100 though I can stretch it to $120 maximum. Since this is my dad it doesn't have to be gaming powerful (nice option though), it has to be silent, and hopefully it can output to a TV using component cables. Thanks! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd go for the cheapest 6600GT you can get... even if it means you'd have to wait a couple of weeks for the best deal... it's one of the best cards, at the moment, if you look at price vs. performance per watt... TDR

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you just need a silent low end video card with TV output, how about a X300? I have a new OEM passively cooled X300SE 64MB PCI Express card that I'll let go for $30 shipped. Has DVI and S-Video out.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The card was originally mine and I already replaced the heatsink with a VF700. Instant void. Come to think of it I probably hit it with ESD when I cannibalized the VF700 for my 6600GT a few months back. |

![]() | i've never used a esd strap infact i shock my parts all the time lol i haven't fried one of them in 5 years of doing it lol ![]() imo it wasn't esd but it is possible and another imo those esd straps knock more electronics on the ground breaking them in the fall then they save by protecting them from esd lol |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It depends on what part you strap it to (which wrist or ankle) and where you anchor it. A little caution and common sense with it can help you eliminate a potential and costly source of problems. At least that's what I hope when I can order the part. |
