Exclamation ATI AIW 9600XT : No Video only Sound :(

Trying to help a co-worker get his AIW 9600XT to work. He has installed the drivers and several others. I have uninstalled all the drivers and installed them in this order.
1. DX 9.0C
2. WDM Driver
3. ATI Multimedia Center.

When the media center is open all I get is just a black window (where the video should show) all we get is the TV sound. Tried using the Analog / DVI connections, and still no video.

Is there a tool to completely remove all ATI drivers and is there an order to install these drivers to work properly? HEEEEEEELP!!!

Any Suggestions please.

Download the ATI driver cleaner, just google it, its on their site somewhere. Run that, then install everything following the order from ATIs site. Their drivers are a PITA, but its AIWs are sweet once you've got em working right.

PITA?

Going to download Driver Cleaner Tonight and see how it goes. The instructions on the site don't really help too much just wondered if you had any personal experience with driver installation order. Thanks

As to the order, I would assume you had it correct... at least that is how I would have done it.

Stupid question: you do have a video feed hooked up to the card, yes?

Also, check the format / source for your video feed in the apps settings.

Ha Ha Yes, I do have the TV Cable plugged into the Co-Ax connection on the video card. And the Source is correct. I ran the ATI Multimedia Centre "PC CHECK" and these are the errors that came up. I installed the WDM Drivers and still these showed up.

Hmmnn ... "Curiouser and curiouser," he said. You don't have specific capture device drivers for the AIW, do you, other than the Catalyst Universal Drivers? Hmmnnn ...

From ATI: It is recommended that you install the driver package with the Catalyst Control Center as support for the version with Control Panels will be retired shortly.

Catalyst Control Center requires the .Net framework, also.

Given those things don't work, sorry, man ... don't know what to say. Other research on line indicate that SP2 may not be compatible w/ the 9600XT AIW, but that's not confirmed by personal knowledge or experience.

Good luck, mon frer,

Did you run the ati cleaner and remove everything? Remove everything, then install the catalyst drivers, and then all 3 components of the MMC. You need a CD to install the DVD decoder, but its not necesary for the TV function.

I initially tried using "complete" installer from the CD which did no good. So I have just been installing the "WDM" driver from the CD seperately.

I have installed .Net Framework 1.1 and SP1 for .NET

This is a different order than I have installed before, maybe I should give it a try. From what I get is this what you mean

#1. Install ATI Catlyst Drivers with With Catalyst Control Center
#2. Install ATI Multimedia Center DOA/MDAC
#3. Install ATI Multimedia Center 9.08

Is this correct?

What I have been doing is this order
#1. WDM (no restart)
#2. ATI Driver
#3. Install ATI Multimedia Center DOA/MDAC
#4. Install ATI Multimedia Center 9.08
