Default Where the hell is the Radeon 9800 Pro?

I'm pissed. I know that there is a limited supply of these, and that they're mostly going to OEMs first, but I WANT TO BUY A RADEON 9800! This problem is compounded by the fact that my Geforce 3 has ceased to work properly (I'm using a loaned Radeon 7000, which means no games for me). I want to get a Hercules Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB, but the 256MB version isn't even out yet, and even if I wanted to compromise and buy the 128mb version, I can't. My guess is that Dark Samurai has been rerouting and stealing all the Radeon 9800 shipments to a bunker in Siberia, where he is using them to power a computer to open a hole in another dimension, from which he will gather an army to take over the world! That, or maybe ATi hasn't produced enough chips and we're all just playing a waiting game...

They're at my best buy. Four of them, 256 meg version. Besides, I'm taking over the world.

I've seen Nvidia 256 meg cards as well. Our best buy has all kinds of stuff. However, i may have misread somewhere on the ATI. But, they DO have 9800 pros.

That's my biggest complaint. I want a Hercules Radeon 9800 Pro with 256MB of RAM, but it isn't out yet. Even the 128MB version, which has been released, is unavailable unless I buy a whole Alienware. I still think Samurai has them all.

newegg.com appears to have the 9800 pro in stock, check it out here:

note: I do not see a Hercules, just an ATI brand, but still! it IS a 9800pro

Thanks for the linkage, I'll check it out. I suppose it really boils down to who has the 256mb 9800 in stock first, but if all the makers come out with it, I'd choose the Hercules first.

Well, I'm sure that I saw the Nvidia. same card you mentioned, and I was like, dang yo-how much you gonna put on there?

Of course, my girlfriend's computer has only 1 meg of memory for onboard video-remember how lucky you are.

What games have textures that need that much?! Right now my 64mb Ti4200 can play every game out there at acceptable levels of res and detail

Even my Radeon 9000 pro plays all games pretty well..plus I overclocked it too. I'd overclock my printer if I was able to

The 9800 with 256mb of RAM should be about $500. No current games can fill a 128mb frame buffer, but I've heard that the Doom III alpha can, and I want my video card to be a little future proof, so I'd save a little in the long run. Only problem is that the 256MB isn't out yet, and Hercules cards are damn near impossible to find (and the only cards to use ramsinks).
