| I'm trying to figure out which card would be best for gaming. A radeon x700 pro 256MB, or a PNY 6600GT 128MB? Both for 199.99. Both agp of course, i haven't upgraded to a pci express yet, doing that after christmas. But for now if someone could suggest which card is better, IDK? ![]() Last edited by coolerguy1984; 07-November-05 at 08:30 PM.. | ||

Ator got his x700pro to 520/520, and it beats 6600GT's. I would say get a Sapphire Toxic x700pro, they overclock like mad.

| I don't plan on overclocking the video card, i'm just wanting something that'd already get good frame rates. I originally was trying to get a 6600GT, made by PNY at 500/900 stock. But unfortunately all the retail stores around here were sold out. So then I looked at the Radeon x700 Pro at the same price, and thought it would be just as good. But if a x700 Pro won't beat a 6600GT not o/c then I'd rather not purchase one. I was just wondering how a x700 Pro would perform with games? such as Doom 3, hl2, BF2. when not overclocked. | ||

| My 6600GT @ 575/1250 got 4k in 3dmark 2005 SLi 6600GT's @ 570/1200 got 7.2K in 3dmark 2005 So use that to compair. And why dont you want to overclock, its sooo simple. You move a slider bar, then you get 5-15FPS better in yoru games. Free performance, no risk. | ||

| What is a good program to overclock video cards? I'm thinking about just overclocking my 5200 fx until I get a better video card. I'm just kinda worried about the card over heating is why I don't overclock. BTW, that's a nice rig you got there

You can practice overclocking your 5200.. but you will still not get good performance, it is just a poor performing card...

My old radeon 9600 256 non-Pro ran Doom3 and HL2 pretty well, surprisingly enough. According to my FRAPS, I got average frame rates of about 37 in Doom3 on high quality and 41 in HL2 at stock settings. So an x700 won't have much trouble running these games. If you crank up all of the eye candy, then it'll probably start to chug a little. Now my x800xt runs 'em like buttah... ![]()

Mine can pull at least 4200 with 2x512 sticks of ram opposed to 4x512. About 80/81,000 in Aquamark running SLi(il get the single card benchies in a moment) They are a really powerfull card for the price (at least where I live). I ended up going SLi with them becuase I got the second for free. So why not heh ![]() Last edited by TYCOON; 07-November-05 at 07:38 AM..

| I've got my SLI XFX 6600GT's running at 585/1125 right now. The funny thing is I usually use Rivatuner but for the hell of it I decided to use Coolbits this time. When I checked the box that said "Hell Yeah I want to OC these Beyotch's", these were the recommended settings. Hell, I wouldn't have gone 585 on stock cooling myself but I benched the hell out of them and they are stable. I haven't owned a X700 but do have an X800 that gets smoked by a 9800Pro. | ||

I'm talking about overclocked vs. overclocked. But damn, guess it's not superior according to these guys scores. I wonder which one does better in really high resolutions. BA, an X800 slower than a 9800pro? That's mind boggling....

| I am currently running the 6600gt by Pny and i have to say it runs pretty dang good. Never used the x700 so i cant really give you a comparison but i can say i do like the 6600gt card. Will probably get a new cooling setup for it in 2 weeks and overclock it. Will repost (if you have not already bought it) and let you know how the pny OC's. | ||
