Question Nvidia drivers with 6600GT

Hey Pimps and Pimpettes!

This is a call out to all 6600GT AGP owners.

Is anyone else finding the new Forceware drivers are actually decreasing performance? ive been using 77.72 for ages now because the release after dropped by 3d03 score by about 300. Was pretty excited when the new 81.85 series came out but that also dropped the score by 2-300 from the 77.72.

Is it that these newer drivers are aimed at the more advanced / SLI cards and have more code in them that the 6600GT just isnt using... making it slower?

Out of general curiosity just wondering if anyone else has found this? What drivers are you all using (Nvidia)?

Hmmm, have heard of drivers causing card performance to fall. Usually the Big N fix it in the next update. I suppose the problem is "being all things to all people" so to speak. Writing drivers to suit multiple cards at the same time must be complicated.

arn't the 81.85s beta drivers? I havn't really noticed a drop off in performanc (i have the 6800GT) but, i migth not be paying attention to it very well....

whoops, guess they arn't, lol. I just looked at their site...haha...i may have the "beta" version of them...not sure...i'll check when I get back home...but, as is with most drivers, use the ones that work best for you (or the ones that allow you to play your games )
