Default Everything keeps crashing with my 8500le

It doesnt matter what im running, itll crash. I'll be surfing the net, explorer will close. Playing a game, iitll close. Benchmarking anytime with 3d mark 2001 (very rarely 2003). I never get an error message. I know its due to my overclocking, but i havnt really reached the max yet for my card (no artifacts or anything). I wonder if it could be my p/s. I dont have the money to buy a new one though. Anyone have any ideas? Heres my system:

asus a7n8x deluxe mobo
amd 2400+ xp
sapphire 8500 le
512 samsung 2700 ddr
stock heatsinks on the cpu and vid card.
Nothing else unusual

I've noticed that while keeping stock speeds helps the crashing, BG1942 still crashes for no obvious reason. Its really wierd cause none of the crashes have error messages, the program just closes nicely.

I'm having the same problem! Except my computer crashes whenever ANY program that uses the video card (games, benchmarks, and even 3d screensavers!). Not to mention the other problem of mine in a post I made 2 days ago. I too have ALL the lastest drivers. Its hard to put up with this pos, Visiontek btter hurry up with my GeForce 4.

I have a cheap brand 400w, running a geforce 3, so it should be cool.

Do you think that it is possible that you are over heating your card and your mobo realizes this, there is an option in the bios that does this, and it is shutting the vid card down for your own good?

if that was happening (which i doubt since it also happens while running at stock speeds) wouldnt the whole os crash, not just the game?

Instability probs can also be caused my not have your mobo drivers intstalled. I'd reinstall chipset drivers.

hmmm thats funny. I just went to the asus website, and there are no drives for my mobo. I have the a7n8x deluxe. There are only drivers for things on my mobo, but nothing, except for bioses, for my mobo. Should i try reinstalling the nforce 2 drivers?

According the the asus website, the driver version there is more advanced, just has a lower number. Ive read that people have problems using that driver pack with his mobo. Looking in my device manager, under computer it just says acpi uniprocessor pc. Should it say my mobo there instead? Maybe that could be a clue to the problem.

No, because that's what mine says and mine's working just fine, except for the overheating due to crappy ventilation...

And those nvidia drivers are working perfectly fine for me.... and, does Asus say exactly how far behind on the numbers that they are? Last time I checked they didn't.
