Question 9600Pro -> X800Pro upgrade

Long time reader, first time poster.

Anyway, I just bought a nice new X800Pro VIVO from New Egg to replace my faithful 9600Pro.

Do I need to run some kind of "driver cleaner" to get the old drivers off or can I just plug and play with the drivers from the included cd or ati.com? Please dont tell me to reinstall windows, cuz I aint doing it.

Thanks!

best thing to do would be to go download DriverCleaner Pro. Follow the instructions and get rid of any vestige of that 9600Pro, then install the new X800Pro with brand new drivers

Thats what i do and it works best...

I would just uninstall the old drivers...........shut down your system..........replace the card..........and install the new drivers.............

Now, if you have some problems with performance.........you can always then try a driver cleaner and then a fresh install....

It's funny............I've never had to use a driver cleaner.........

You only really need driver cleaner when going from Nvidia to ATI. Doing it your way will work fine too Hiperf15.

Sounds good guys.

I think I will just use the uninstall, shutdown, replace, and install method. If I have any problems I will use the drivercleaner program.

Thanks for the replies all!

i do the exact same thing & i to never have the need of driver cleaner

When i switch for my old mx440 to my 9600 pro i just uninstall the nvidia graphic driver but didn't restart the pc then i went to my c: & delete my nvidia directory (the graphic part) & then i shot down my pc & switch my cards then power up the pc & installing my ATI driver

I uninstalled the drivers, shut down, installed the card, powered on, not enough power!, replaced the PSU, booted up, installed the drivers, and that it!

Thanks Guys!
