Alright.. I was at this LAN yesterday, and besides kicking ass in the Apache and Hind in Desert Combat I noticed something... well, two things. One was my refresh rate getting reset to 60Hz every time my graphics card switched out of Windows and into the Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat program. The other thing I noticed is a slight choppiness to the gameplay. I don't understand it, every other computer I've seen and the other ones there always manage to have smooth game play. Sure, mine gets high framerates but it doesn't look smooth, nor is it. It's choppy, occasional tearing.. that's the vsync being disabled, but when I enable vsync it's still choppy. The only game that I really notice it in is Desert Combat. I still get high 70's or higher for FPS, but it's choppy. Is it my card overheating, or is it some graphics setting that I have set up incorrectly? I honestly don't know, and neither did the two techs that were at the LAN.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't know about settings for those games...but. If you use Powerstrip or Riva Tuner or many other vid card tweakers. You can set the refresh rate so it doesn't default to 60 in 3D games. This bug only happens in Win2000 and XP. With SP1 for XP the default is now 75Mhz. Better...but if your monitor and card support it, higher is better for games. http://xp-refresh.net/

Tearing and choppiness can definitely indicate the card or cpu is overclocked too far or overheating. Outside of reinstalling agp and video drivers. You might try setting to 16bit instead of 32.

More than likely overheating, as my case has ****ty airflow and I haven't overclocked... Well, wonder how I can get some air across that f*cking card. Ah well, it's an extended vacation.. I got time to dig around inside the box.
