Default Video Editing...

First sory if this is not in the right thread , couldn't see where else to post this

Ok now i already have an ATI Tv-Wonder VE PCI & feel like it's getting old ...

Anyhow i want to buy a new one & give the one i already got to my brother in law
I'm using it to recording my show or series on tv or old VHS that i transfer in to my pc for later on putting it on a DVD using TMPEnc 1.6

The way i'm using it is that i got my tv on the coaxial (cable) & the composite from my explorer 3200 in to my tv-tuner
i know not the best quality on coaxial for my tv but this way i can use the bypass so that i can record my numeric tv in to my computer & have my wife or the kids watch someting else on the tv using the reguler cable (Analogue)
this is the box i got ---> http://www.dslreports.com/faq/12397

Now i would like to go USB 2.0 if better or the same performance/quality as an PCI card?
so is it ok to got USB 2.0 or better stick to PCI card?
i would like to get very good image quality & performance for a cheap price so wich one should i get?

here is a link where i usely got buy my stuff & you'll see all the video editing card they got there
http://www.microbytes.com/products.p...w=all&pcid=296

I can got up to $130.xx CND but cheaper price would be best like under $100.xx CND

Thx!

C'mon don't tell me that nobody do video editing these days?

price are so cheap now for video cards & pc that almost anybody can do video film etc..

so please anser my question (need to know by friday) i don't want to buy another card that would not do better then the one i already got (Tv-wonder VE)

i tryed to google it searching for the best video capture card or reviews i also tryed to look for some forum about capture/editing cards but there is not much out there for this

anyhow from what i could find out is the two best would be Pinnaccle or Hauppauge & that ATI are Sh*t!

i really like to know because i was going buy another ati tuner card (the pro maybe?) but not i'm not sure if i should go for ati anymore & just go buy Pinnacle or hauppauge but then wich one should i choose??

must be somone here that know alot about video editiing? i hope!
here is the link again from where i'm going to buy that card
http://www.microbytes.com/products.p...w=all&pcid=296

i spend about 3 hrs searching for some anser to my question on google but there is not much & most reviews are out of date so i'm confuse on what to buy that would give me best quality pictures for the price i can aford?

if maybe some of you may have other suggestions to make about another capture card that is not on the list where i usely go buy my computer parts well let me know what type of card it is i could maybe order it or try to find it in other computers strore around here?

Thx! again.

Thx! to give me some anser

but i read\find some reviews that say that the hauppauge 150 is sh*t! & better get the 250 or higher to get something good & those reviews came from people having the Hauppauge 150 them self

anyhow i appreciated your reply but i don't buy on line i do have a credit card for the past 2 years but i never use it (no joke) i'm kepping it just in case of emergency like clothing (not sure if right spelling?) for the kids or for some food if that ever happen? or for fixing the car if something big happen & need it to go to work.
but not for luxuy like computer parts or tv set etc... you know electronics...

i prefer wait a fiew mouths to get the cash i need & not using a credit card that you'll have to pay back with interests (some of them can go up to 28% of interests)

Just doing a slight correction. as far as the transfer speeds of usb 2.0 compared to firewire.

USB 2.0 = 480Mbps
Firewire 1394A (most devices) = 400Mbps
Firewire 1394B (few devices) = 800Mbps

ahh but usb2 is slower in video... reason being the speed of usb never reaches full speed and its not constant... the speed is all over the place where firewire is constant speed from begining to the end..

also... the 150 is an ok card... but remeber you gave a 100 as the limit where the 250 costs 128$

what? its a digital signal. where are you getting the idea its not constant. its not a burst rate transfer speed.

wow took me a min to find this.. and here i thought i was crazy....

Quote:
At first glance it would appear that USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) is indeed faster than FireWire (400 Mbps). However, this is only true under ideal conditions. While 480 Mbps is the maximum speed achievable, USB 2.0 cannot guarantee a specified data transfer rate. This is mainly because USB 2.0 is a master-slave, host-dependent technology, meaning it relies on your computer's CPU to facilitate and manage data transfers.

FireWire (IEEE 1394x), on the other hand, is a peer-to-peer technology that does not require CPU resources to facilitate data transfers between FireWire devices. Moreover, FireWire devices can guarantee real-time delivery of data at a specific rate. Real time data delivery is necessary for certain applications, such as digital video streaming where dropped or delayed data packets is unacceptable. This is why devices like digital camcorders have 1394 interfaces, and why FireWire is the interface of choice for digital video editing applications.
