Default problems :(

ok, ive been havin a problem, i just recently built a new system... i took my old gf2 mx400(pci) and put it in my new system since i dont have enuf $ to get a new one yet, ive got it installed, and it says it is working properly.... but everytime i go to do something with some kind of visual animation like thing(play a 3d game... or turn on winamps visualization...) the comp will freeze..... then i gotta reboot i made sure i had the latest version of direct-x and ive tried all kinds of drivers from nvidia to see if that would correct any of the problem, but its still doin the same thing, i got it installed on pci slot 2..... because ive read that agp shares irq's or somethin w/ pci slot 1..... any suggestions? thanks

Three things come to mind.
Overheat, like you arent getting the cooling you should.

Driver for the card. You can get the new Det Driver HERE. Just put grahics driver and then operating system

The other thing is that I dont know if your card can handle the latest Direct X vers. you might need to go back to DX7.
Since I dont know anything else about your system, including OS, HERE is the FAQ for DX. Check for compatability for your OS and your card.

Hmm, I'm guessing you have 2 video cards, then...here's one thing to check. In BIOS, there's usually a setting called "Primary VGA Display", usually in Advanced Chipset Features (or you may have to look around a bit). By default, it's (inexplicably) set to "PCI" on most motherboards. Usually that doesn't cause problems, because most people only have a single AGP vidcard in their computers; if a PCI vidcard doesn't exist, it won't matter. But in YOUR situation, you HAVE a second, PCI vidcard.

In games, it would seem your system is trying to use the PCI card instead of your AGP card, and it's causing problems. Go in your BIOS and see what the aforementioned setting is, and try setting it to "AGP". You DO want to use your AGP card for gaming, right? I'm really not quite sure, judging from what you've told us....?
