Ok Im pissed, 6600GT takes a crap

So I used to love my 6600GT untill today. It just took a crap. Look at what farcry looks like... Now it wont run a single game. Heres what I dont understand. NOTHING CHANGED. I didnt download a virus or update the bios or anything. It just started acting up. I really need your guy's help on this one because Im lost. I cant overclock it at all because the test's all fail, my temps are in the green. I can watch a movie no problem. Im running the omega driver right now because it actaully worked for a little bit with it. Im running the nvidia driver now and it wont get past the loading screen of farcry.

Did you buy a good aftermarket heatsink for it or did you just trust the one on it? Even if you trusted the one on it did you take it off and check for thermal paste or tape and replace either with a quality paste? Were you overclocking it. If you've done nothing to it but use it, how old is it? It may still be under warranty. I feel for you. Every Nvidia card I've ever owned (except for 1 TNT2 card) has died on me. That's the one reason I move to ATi. But if ATi's new card doesn't scream I'll be buying a 7800 soon.

That looks like heat damage to the core, happend to my 9800Pro when the stock fan died...

Sorry to say it, but I'm afraid that your video card is toast.

What sort of overclock were you running prior to meltdown?

Just a quick pointer to others considering buying this card, beware of a possible bad batch/ various hardware incompatabilities
*Notice* Four absolutely negative feedbacks in a row, bad replacement chips, icky stuff...

This sample quote reveals perhaps even worse than the defect, the manufacture's support: Scouring the AOPEN support forum reveals several similar instances that appear to have gone unresolved.

Anyhow, don't give up on them if they try and bullsh- you out of your money's worth at first. Thats infact the first thing to expect when dealing with RMA services, questionable agenda's. They may end up being competent and stubborn, but be both patient and persistent; it's thier obligation to refund or replace the defective product still under applicable warranty.

I posted in Aopens forums so hopefully I can get some feed back. I never took the heatsink off. I only overclocked like once and it was a tiny overclock. Im pissed, Im done gaming thanks to Aopen. I guess Ill just play my fu***** dreamcast.

Man, i'm sorry this had to happen.. Right b4 your LAN n'all too.. I'd send ya this 9800SE if I didn't still need it to see and play stuff..

ED. Dreamcast is still better than any of the current-gen gaming consoles IMO.. Fact that my Xbox sat on a shelf completely untouched for over a year was more than a great reason to sell it for $75 about last Christmas.. Hope this detour is short-lived as possible.
