![]() | Im just wondering how does the Ati radeon xpress 200m compare to my radeon 9200? im trying to buy a laptop with the xpress graphics and i was wondering if it would do me any better than my radeon 9200? both have 128mb of ram (dedicated) i want to run battlefield 1942, counter-strike, unreal tournament, quake 3 on it. If it will match the quality and framerates of my 9200 then great! If better then even greater!!! My current 3dmark 2001SE score is: 4825 9200 system: p4 1.6 512mb ram 40gb hd sb live 5.1 radeon 9200 128mb AGP 4x xpress 200m system: A64 3500+ 512MB ram 100gb hd intergrated sound radeon xpress 200m 128mb dedicated pci express if i sound like a noob in asking is because i am not too keen on comparing laptop graphics to desktop when it not obvious....like in this case..... | Mystical Schwinn Guru | My mom 0wns the 9200. Seriously, the 9200 is a joke of a GPU, it doesn't even have full support for DX 9.0 apps, whereas the FX5200 does. And an xpress 200 > FX5200. But not by much. Find a lappy with a 96 or 9700 Pro Mobility. Those GPU's would rape an Xpress 200. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Let me be honest with you. Even in a laptop, you will be owned with graphics that poor. If you are looking for a business portable either card would work OK, but if you are looking to have a portable game machine, you need to look at a portable with a hell of a lot more graphics power than those two options. |

![]() | well currently the p4 1.6ghz with the radeon 9200 is what i currently use.....(not my fastest btw) just wanted the laptop to match or best it in performance. my budget for this laptop is no more than $1,200 i am basically looking for a laptop for college, but if it could also play the games that i listed (just those) then that's cool j-dogg, so you saying that the xpress beats the 9200? that's just fine with me then.... EDIT: i just found another laptop would a radeon X600 128mb do me justice??? |

![]() | I think u should go with the 600X its pretty good i was at comp USA and saw one of the HP lappys have one and found the lappy had 3dMark03 and it ran the benchmark flawless P.S: if u would like to spend a couple more $$ then i would go with one of these: Pavilion zd8230us Notebook http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...29005&pfp=cat3 Pavilion zd8220us Notebook http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...133&pfp=BROWSE

| Apex Elite Tech | actually ive heard the dell xps is the fastest gaming laptop out now... sure the alienwares and voodoo's and falcons look a hell of a lot better and are fast, but the dell is supposedly the fastest. its also the only one that is centrino based, and therefore is the only of the major gaming laptops with a 6800 ultra that gets more than an hour of battery life. of course, its still massive and hugley expensive

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Although not put as eloquently as I would have liked, fourrmfourgthreeddzeron has the best new computer advice. I cannot believe how Dell has branched out and owns several different marikets now. |

| DM Shop Hoe | Right now i am carrying around a gateway 7422gx SPECS HERE Its nice runs halflife2 at a good framerate i even get it to play bf2 on medium graphics. I would think the laptop with the x600 would do you fine. Heck a 9600-9700 mobility will do well too |

![]() | well if all of you are in agreement, this is the one that i was looking at with the x600: Gateway 7510gx $1,399 VeloRaptor, it is just a newer, higher spec than what you got.... how is yours on battery? and does it get very hot? oh and those pavillions are a no-no (too much money for me) Last edited by Kiyusoma; 29-July-05 at 10:40 PM. |
