Sucky Video Card

I have a really bad video card (Nvidia Tnt2 Model64 Pro) I only get about 30 FPS in Counter-Strike. What would be the best alternative?

Well, either the GeForce FX or ATI 9700. Take your pick, either one will do a great job.

What is your budget, and your purpose? Hardcore gaming or otherwise?

My mobo= 8KHA AGP= 4X Budget= $0

If that video card is a 64 meg (only cuz it says 64) you have somthing else going on as far as problems if your only gettin 30 FPS on an atiquated Half-Life engine.

The 9000 pro is a good budget card, I think only around $80 US maybe less..

hmmm, well i would suggest a g4 ti 4200 128, or the 4400 with 128, they are about 130+, they are pretty nice, i got one and im satisfied with it

You guys, its a TNT card.. 64mb or no, 30 fps is the ballpark for those. I duno, a geforce2 is like $50 USD... those'll get you 80-100 fps in halflife, if that's all you care about.

Outcast is right on target, for half-life, a geforce2 (not the MX) or geforce 3 titanium or a Voodoo 4or 5 card would give you excellent framerates. Hit pricewatch and ebay and you can probably pick one up for a song.

If you want to play modern games though, save your money for a GF4200 or better or ATI 9000 or better.

I wish I could afford a 9700 pro, thats one sweeet card.

yeah, basically, if all ur playin in cs and halflife then just go with the geforce2
but if ya do other games too that take more power, save for the g4ti4200

Play in 16 bits colours not 32 you'll be faster & you won't see any differance cuz the human eye doesn't see that much colours anyways (32 bits)
you can also reduce the resolution 800x600 or 1024x768 that to will be enought. to play games.
