Default 5700 U prob

I just downloaded the latest nvidia drivers and when i go to play CS:S i get this error...

Failed to set video mode - reseting to defaults

Game will now restart with new video settings

when i click ok it does nothing. so i rolled back the drivers and it still gives me the same error. I checked the connector to make sure the card was getting enough power but it was fine. I reset every setting i could think of but it didnt gain me anything. I have been noticing that ive had some lag in games that wouldnt usually but i thought nothing of it. I got a cheap 18 wheels of steel game for free the other day and it sucked. the graphics were mediocre but it seemed strange to me that my card couldnt handle it at high settings. It runs HL2 on high settings perfectly. Maybe u guys can give me some helpful hints. If i dont find the prob, its probably time for a new card anyway.

Did you run Driver Cleaner (free version) after removing the old drivers? They will clog things up sometimes if left behind...

I also delete my old NVIDA folder form the C drive, and run disk clean up before installing the new drivers.

If all else fails, you might try formatting it

I ran some sort of program called nhancer. All i did was delete the HL2 profile and then it worked fine. I guess it was a problem with the 77.72 drivers.

I had the same problem. I had to find a previous version of the drivers. There is some kind of conflict with Source and the latest nvidia drivers, but I think they patched the game since I was playing CS:source and had the new drivers installed in order to play BF2 normally. So make sure your game is up-to-date of get an old version of the drivers.
