I am doing the same thing, but the fins on mine are much smaller.

I don't have a proper clamp so I cut them with a hacksaw. Actually turned out pretty smooth. Now I need to cut the blocks into 4 pieces to act as heatsinks. I will not do that with a hacksaw.

I will be getting a good vise and free-cut with a jigsaw. I need the vise anyway for my "Honey Do" list. After I am done I will use AS adhesive as the contact compound of choice.

Aint no need to spend $30 on small squares of metal.

a hack saw and a vice would be what you are looking for, as well as a T Square for perfect right angles.

what about a band saw and slider guide thingy? or i guess if you dont have access to one you could use this right angle guide jig thing designed for hacksaws.

Hell a table saw with a specail blade for metal cutting would work too (if there is such a thing).

Band saw and a vice would work great

As far as a metal blade for a table saw, just turn your wood blade backwords and it works like candy, no reason to buy another blade. (I worked in the sheet metal field for years, thats an insider trick, so don't tell anyone)

using a band saw and a vice at the same time would prove impossible.

unless you want to use the vice to hold the piece sithout using your finbres close to the blade, then hold that big ol' vice up in the air.

I can send you a pic of a setup of our band saw in the shop.

Vice
----------------

---------------- <--- band saw

---------------- <---- vice

Saw simply cuts down the middle of the vice (actually, you can move the saw to cut where you want, just making a simple diagram.)

hey you guys do know that a jewelers saw would work just as well and save some fingers.you all are playing with fire running things through anything powered held by a vice.vice can slip, you can slip, vice can vibrate loose.if you are dead set on usung a band saw clamp a metal l channel to use as a guide and use a push stick
