Just the four you have circled, plus the same four on the other side if they are not covered by the OEM GPU HSF combo that came on the card.

I think its a heat plate for something that gets hot, but its definitly not ram...probably voltage regulators...
If you flip the card youll see there are four more BGA ram chips (duh) and they get just as hot so there's a total 8 places for your BGA sinks. Come to think of it I could use some sinks..the ram on my R300 get's HOT
Where did you buy your BGA sinks?

It cools the GPU and does a fine job, best leave it alone.
get 8 of those heatsinks or buy an 8 pack of something else.

Because if your only cooling one side thats like running RAID with different hard drives, what I mean is you need to provide equal cooling for all the ram or no cooling at all.

Use Arctic silver epoxy or arctic alumina epoxy to mount your sinks. Be warned it is permanent!

I have a ti4800SE with the same setup. The heatsinks on the bottom were attached, but they have you put the top ones on. The heatsinks supplied have thermal pads on them, and I was wondering if it'd be better to AS3 if I took the pads off.......but then again, how do you attach them?

Ah, thanks putwig. You must have replied as I was typing that I think I'll just stick with the thermal pads

I've got a couple old heatsinks from Pentium systems that I am going to cut to fit the BGA ram. 30 bucks with shipping for 8 squares of tin coated copper is ridiculous.

Yeah, also notice that temps arent too hot, only just acceptable, not bad for a passive cooler but unless your rig is going to be used in a museum or library I dont think that zalman is satisfactory

Maybe it might be a good idea to mod that zalman and make it bigger as well as touch the BGA

Yah mod it bigger so it not only touches the BGA RAM but also so it contacts your case and uses it as a giant HS
