Question Even a monkey could do it...

I was trying to put together my computer last night and when I came to plugging in the PCI-E card to the power, I noticed they're of completely different designs - what appears to be the connector on the card is a row of about eight pins like those that plug into the PCI-E socket, whilst the connector that purports to be the PCI-E power connector on the PSU is an arangement of six pins in two rows of three. The picture on the PSU box shows a similar connector but with two rows of four pins - what should a PCI-E power connector actually look like?

Edit: Okay, the PSU connector is correct, but what is _this_?

Thanks - that should come in useful later!! But in the meantime can anyone suggest where I might find the power connector? Might it have been left off at the factory?

If you can't find it, it probably doesn't need external power.

This looks like your card, as you can see it doesn't have a power connector, your card doesn't need the extra juice.

[edit]: BA beat me to it...

Hes right. Most likely it is a 6600. Some of them dont require external power.

Yeah it's a Leadtech px6600 gt tdh w/ 128 mb - I never even considered the possibility of it not needing extra power! I just thought some bozo (my long lost twin?) at the factory must have messed up... If this is the case, then thanks everyone!!

Edit; According to this article it comes with a power splitter... according to my instructions it also comes with a power splitter. But according to the instructions it may have one or two power connectors so I'm not sure how well the instructions are matched to the card.

Just re-read the thread and noticed I'd skimmed over Ryj's links - it's my exact card - how'd you do that from dodgy poor focus pictures taken on my phone?? You've all saved me a lot of hassle; thanks (stupid manual)
