| alright yall, im considering doing THE UNTHINKABLE!!!, i have a msi g4 ti 4200 128mb, i have been reading alot about g-cards, i see that nvidia is getting its a$$ handed to them on a red platter with RADEON enscribed on it......the ti 4200 isnt even the best budget card anymore, the 9500 pro is, for almost the same price i bought my 4200 at.... and the 4800 FX isnt even really becoming comercial, there just making like 10,000 of them.... the 4600 ultra is gonna be the one thats the "lastest" from nvidia... the 9800 pro just came out, smokes all!!! just like the 9700 pro smoked the ti 4600 when it came out.... SO??? should i do the unthinkable and go to radeon?? becuase i am looking for a new vid card upgrade? what do yall think i should do?????? ![]() | ||

| You guys act like NVidia is getting their ass handed to them because ATI just came out with a card that just about noone can afford and probably won't be put into a single commercial computer. FYI we're not exactly the main market for computers, that's big corporate, and we're not even the main market for at home use. | ||

| Apex Tech Fanatic Supreme | I personally invest in Nvidia stock, and its been doing GREAT. The market share they are after are budget, and mid-ranged cards, and that is the market they own atm. ATI may be winning the battle right now, but the war is def. not over. Casper | |

| I did what I thought was the unthinkable and got a 9700 pro when it came out. So I know where you are coming from. Having always been an nvidia guy it was a hard step to take. But I did it and I love it now. I am not an nvidia (used to be) or ATI fanatic... I just wont what is best and right now ATI offers the best. Nvidia will be coming out with new cards soon so if you are a diehard nvidia fan just wait. | ||

Unless you have buckets of expendable cash ........ I would stick with what you have for now! The TI 4200 will play all current games without a hitch. If you are gunning for bragging rights, and have the cash to spend ...... then all power to yah! | |||||||||||||||||||||

| According to the latest on Max PC, they got hold of one of the new NForce FX cards... Said the damn thing sounds like a dustbuster and takes up two PCI slots 'cause the fan is huge. I don't usually care much for ATI (mostly 'cause their drivers are usually a pain in the ass), but I have to admit, the 9500 does sound like the better deal... just for the Direct X 9 support. Hell, I have a GF2, a GF3, AND a GF4... I'm STILL considering going ATI next round... My two cents... | ||

| hahahah, DARKS, the reason i posted post was becuase i had just got done wiht that article (MAXPC = THE SHIZZZ IN GAMIN MAGS!!!) hmmmm all good posts, yeah sorry i was kinda bashin Nvidia there, just kinda agervates me becuase ive always been the kinda person that will go for the underdogs, like really go for ATI and Soyo becuase they are BIG NAME BRANDS that jack up thier prices just because of the NAME brand, nvidia i have never been displeased with, nvidia has been good to me, i should be good to it! i just dont like monopoly companys (ironicaly enough i use win2k......mircosoft) i will upgrade one day, im thinking of buidling a new computer, just to have this one right here as a back up, even though it is sufficient enough for the fragin and stuff i do (i like to be workin on a computer, gives me stuff to do) so ill ask about g-cards when i start to work on that pc ![]() | ||

| mm I'm with putwig... if you already have a ti4200 you don't really need a Radeon, unless you can justify spending a lot of money just to say that you have a DirectX 9 capable card. If you want a new card, I'd wait for a few months to see what is happening then, if ATI and nVidia are releasing new products soon, then the prices of the 'old' stuff will come down. Really, I think it comes down to if you need it... if all your games work fine, then there's no real point IMHO. | ||

| Personally (unless I was rich) i would stick with the 4200 untill the next line of cards come out...or at LEAST buy a 9800......there isnt a significant performance/money spent ratio to buy a new 9500....in other words......ure gunna spend that money and its not THAT much faster than the 42000...granted it is fatser....but then I would simply buy a 9800 for the money with a BIG perfomrance increase instead of some increase. | ||

| "the ti 4200 isnt even the best budget card anymore, the 9500 pro is, for almost the same price i bought my 4200 at...." Well that depends on your definition of 'budget'. I just went to pricewatch.com and the GF4 Ti4200 is running 130ish (for 128mb version) and the cheapest 9500PRO I could find was more than $50 bucks more. They are not "almost" the same price IMHO. Although I own an nVidia card, I wouldn't be against getting an ATi card if for the same price (or within $20) if the performance/features were better. To me, $50 is not 'almost' close enough to the same price. Unless you know where to find one cheaper (if so, let me know! ) | ||
