Default 6600 GT Driver Problem

I am hoping someone has an explanation to my problem here. When I go to install the latest driver from the Nvidia website, it'll act like it wants to install properly until i reboot the computer. (Trying to explain my thought) Everytime I get onto my desktop, any kind of movement on my screen screws up and dont go away untill I reboot again, kind of like artifacts but not in a game. I do not have the video card overclocked, but i do have my cpu overclocked a tiny bit. The driver on the MSI driver disc will work, but i can't play some of my games because it is an old driver. It's certainly a budget computer, but it does what I need it to do. Anyway i will stop rambling and post my specs below.

Chaintech Summit "SPT800"
Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz @ 2.91Ghz
Kingston DDR400 512Mb
MSI NX6600GT 128MB AGP8x
Western Digital 120GB IDE

Did you uninstall the old drivers first?

Before you install new video drivers, you must uninstall the old ones first. Do this by going to control panel > add/remove programs. Remove the Nvidia Video Driver only. Then reboot, and it will start in 800x600, big & blocky. At this time, install the new drivers that you have saved on your computer. Do that and it should work.

Don't forget to use Driver Cleaner.

I tried that, the thing is still not working. I am wondering if the thing is bad, first I am going to reformat and try that. If you guys are wondering about the PSU I am running... it's the Tt Purepower 480W.

Did you check MSI's website for updated drivers?

And are you willing to do a full format?

I haven't done a full format yet, but I have ran the driver cleaner and got the latest msi driver to work half a$$, after playing a game like battlefield or call of duty for about half hour to an hour my screen starts to do wierd things like a buzzing effect (not the noise). I am not sure if that would be my card or the monitor because when i hit the degaus button, it settles down. More replies would be help. Thanks guys for the help so far.
