![]() ![]() | OK... I have a Geforce 6600gt AGP card for my primary lcd monitor I also have a Geforce 4 mx440se PCI card for my second monitor (flat Apple CRT) Well I figured it was time to upgrade that PCI card, and I got a Geforce Fx 5200 128mb for $29.00 on clearance at Office Depot today, I saw that price and said ''YEP, TIME TO UPGRADE" Anway I had no problems running the other two cards, NOW, I put the 5200 in and it installs and is in My Device Mgr (no problems system says), but it is not in 'Right Click Desktop->properties->settings' it's like my monitor is not there....but the card is.. NOW, if I take the agp card out, and just use the pci, it works fine.. They have Different IRQ I checked... If I have both cards in and go into bios and change setting to boot PCI card first, it boots till Windows Xp logo screen then locks up, and I have to power down.... Now.. Could this be a Power Supply Issue?? I have 2 500W PSUs, 1 is brand new, JUST installed today, the other is 2 yrs old, and I have a 480W 1 week old PSU as well..... In this system right now, I just swapped everything out, so i am just running 2 fans, the cpu fan, those two Vid cards and a modem, 2 hdd's,2 cd/dvds .. Normally I run Liquid cooling and 6 fans, 2 on RAD, 1 case intake, 3 exhaust, but on this system I just have the 1 in/1 out fans.... so I don't think I am drawing a lot of power.. I even went so far as to disconnect the power from BOTH cd/dvd drives and still didn't work... Please help!!! and I did a CLEAN install of drivers... uninstalled everything pertaining to Nvida, removed folders, ran registry clear etc... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I doubt it's a Power issue, your system is set up to be able to run several PCI cards and those PSUs should handle what you hve going. Besides, it's primarily the 3.3V rail that's in question, not the 12V that your drives and fans will be running off. You have something else that's holding you up. Since you had it booted and running, and windows could see the card in the device manager, then it looks like a simple setting issue or a compatability issue between the drivers of the different cards. I think you should get back to where you were earlier and then start working it again from there. I think your power concern took you down the wrong road. Most likely some web research on this problem will find someone who has found a solution already.
