One of my friends has a 9550 PCI ATI radeon card

when he is playing NSFU there is a slight lag...

now heres the question

could the video card be lagging because it is working too hard to catch up with the game? as in relation to the FPS?

More than likely, the graphics would be choppy ( like if it were in slow motion).

Most FPS games will show framerates if you enable it in the console, I dunno if that works on NFS.

Anything under 30FPS is usually considered poor.

What are the rest of the system specs? the 9550 should be able to play that game fine, as long as he has 512MB or more of system memory (Check the game sys requirements)

Othere than that, I would look at a poorly installed driver, or something running in the background. Hit CTRL ALT DELETE and see what is running in the background. Try turning off as much as possible and see if it helps, antivirus programs can be serious reasource hogs.

EDIT: Looks like that game can run on some pretty low end hardware, I would say he has some type of config issue.

it may just be because its a pci card. I had PCI cards up until recently when the kick a$$ games started coming out. no matter how much i turned down the settings they always lagged some. That 9550 is probably better than the ones i had though. the nicest PCI card i had was an MX440.

I have been playing source on a 64mb PCI GeForce 2MX400 for about 2 weeks now becuase my rig is down. Works good at 640x480..60fps
