ASUS GF4 Ti4600 power problem

And so on to my first post here....

I got my ASUS GF4 Ti4600 from ebay last week and hooked it up to my system, which is a

Abit KT7a MB
AMD Athlon 1.4GHz Thunderbird
Soundblaster Live 1024 player
SCSI adaptor
Network Card
H/D
2 CD-ROM Drives
512mb dimm
Win98 SE

Whenever i tried to crank the card up to play anytihng with a newer graphic engine the system would crash. On older stuff like Counterstrike the game was fine, max payne didnt work and i cannot sucessfully benchmark my system with 3D benchmark (though i could with my old GF2 in which is the only thing that has been swapped).

I have now reread everything through in the manual and everything is running correctly in terms of voltage to the card on the agp bus and through VDDQ (1.5 for my AGP 4X) setup.

However, I just cant get complex stuff to run. Any ideas? I am running the latest Nvidia drivers..

hrmmm.... This may seem like a dumb question to you, but do you have the latest DirectX version?

Just trying to eleminate the easy stuff first,

Is it giving you a error message when you are trying to play a new game? Crashing back to the desktop ? whats up?
