Which one is a better card?Ã‚Â¿?

Same card, different AGP standard. 48 is 8x, 46 is 4x. Either way, it'll run about the same speed (like 3-6 marks on 3dmark2k1) so it doesn't really matter. How much do you want to spend for the same thing?

I would not spend the money on either right now, I'd wait another month and see how the FX is, then make your decision.

Its for my buddy, hes going to replace his GForce 2... Dont know how much is has or is willing to spend...

Neither will make too much difference in real world gaming, a 4200 would do just as well. There comes a point where benchmarks vs actual need becomes moot.

But, I can't blame you for wanting the best, I opted for an ATI 9500 with the mod to turn it into a 9700, so I guess we are both suckers for performance.

If your question is should I get a 4X card or 8X card, get whichever is cheaper.

Id recomend a going with the cheaper of the 2 also. Unless your friend has a agp 8x board. If he does might as well get some use out of it.
