Default Gigabyte 6600 or 6600gt (price is an issue)

6600GT 128mb

6600 256mb

Someone informed me a 128 MB 6600 GT would outperform a 256mb 6600 normal. Is this true? and does this apply to the newer games (wish to play half life 2, CS:source and such on good settings)

(bear in minde these are canadian prices so thats why there high)

Or, if someone has the time they can find me a PCI-Ex card (thats better then those 2) on any of these sights(for under 300CDN):

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/

Thanks!

Ok, I decided on the XFX GEFORCE 6600 GT because I've heard good things about it.

Ok with a 6600 256 card you could run at higher settings beacuse the more memory but with lower fps beacuse the gpu is slower and with 6600 gt 128 you wont to be able to run at high settings but you will get better fps. I also was trying to decide between these cards for these cards for m Pci-e syestem but I ended up getting a X700 pro 256 and Its great

How well does the x700 pro work? is it smarter just to get it?

Bah, all I want is Half-Life 2 to run with good setitngs (preferably all high, but with no filtering) and decent framerate.

After much thought and headache ive decided on the EVGA 6600gt

Bah...

plus the 6600gt has twice the pipelins as the 6600 right?

No, same number of pipelines. The 6600 non-GT has a 300mhz core, and can obtain up to 200+mhz overclocks. The 6600 GT has a 500mhz core, and has better memory. That is the main difference.

Watch out, Tiger Direct will realy sting you on shipping to Canada.

Check out:

All Canadian. All reasonable shipping.
