Default Your thoughts on the Gigabyte GeForce 6600

What do you think of this card

Will it run some of the newer games (Doom3, Half Life2 etc) one reasonably good settings (medium high-high)?

Thanks

What sort of FPS you get will also be affected by your processor, motherboard and RAM.

in general though I think the 6600's run Doom 3 @ 10x7 maybe 12x10 (if oc'ed this ought be fine) with everything on high, probably without filtering though. HL2 will be 10x7 on high, 12x10 on med unless OC'ed

ballpark numbers, dont hold me to those

It all depends on the processor, they have gotten a Voodoo 5500 AGP to run HL2 @ 10 x 7 at like 40 to 60 FPS. If a Voodoo 5 will run HL2 a 6600 should have no problem at all running high-res.

They are equal to a 9800Pro as far as I know.

Older games: 9800Pro is better
Newer games:6600GT is better....

Is that card a plain 6600 or a 6600GT? Because for that price, a 128 meg 6600GT will beat the pants off a 256 meg plain 6600...

Since I chose another motherboard (socket 754 with AMD Atholon 64 3000+ processor) I desided on the HIS Radeon 9600XT . Is this a good choice?

Thanks
