Default 6800 GT Probs :(

Yeah and this is a new card
Ok, so when I turn on the computer, i get the NVIDIA Geforce 6800Gt blah blah screen. Before the Windows XP screen shows up, i get random white lines that appear on the screen. Once it was an interesting bunch of moving particles, sometimes it's straight vertical or horizontal lines. They're not completely clear lines, each is composed of small flickering white particles.
Has anyone ever seen this problem?

Also, I just installed Unreal Tournament (yes the first one ) and when i went to change the resolution to 1280x1024, the same white staticy lines appeared. When i had to reboot my computer and restart UT, the game was in 1280x1024 res. However, the game is very jerky...akin to a laggy game...but on Single player .

Any help is appreciated.

You could possibly have bad memory on the card. My friend has a ti4800 and he could't use it on his LCD because the card could go beyond 800x600. When he sent the card in for RMA all they told was that he had bad memory and sent it back without doing anything.

It very well could be a memory issue.

Its fryed/heatproblems. Thats whats rong. That or drivers problems, try re-installing drivers. IF that doesnt work. Take the card back.

Well, all my other games work fine at 1280x1024 lol.
The wierd particle lines have still remained though. I'll try reinstalling the drivers for the card. NVIDIA's site has the 66.93's again and i'll just reuse those. Iv heard of the Forceware drivers, but i cant find them . I'll keep you guys updated

If you have an extra hard drive try installing windows on it and then your game and see if it goes away. If you do that unplug your main drive first so there will not be any problems.
