Default OC on a 5200 fx

I've got my GF rig, since I gave away my Antithesis rig i'm back to my only other rig in the house (for now). And she gave the blessing to do whatever I want with it, while she works on her mod. Anyway, it's an AMD 2500xp on an Asus a7n8x-x board (non dual channel) with an Asus 5200 fx w/out active cooling. Well I did the Regedit to unlock clock frequencies in Nview utilities, and I added some Heatsinks to the Ram. I also bolted an 80mm fan directly below the card, so it's getting fresh cool air. I Got it to OC up to;

Core: 321 mhz

ram: 418 mhz

All I know is now that rig will run HL2 at 800x600 with all detail on, and it looks great, I maintain an average of 35-42 FPS.

The question is this, since this is my first OC ever..where do the V-mod and mhz stepping in the Bios come in?
I've hit the ceiling for the card by getting artifacts and instability then pulling back to the speeds above, so what would be the point in V-modding or adjusting the Frequency in the Bios?

Any takers?

-d

I don't understand what you are talking about in the Bios...

Adding more voltage to the core should allow an increase in clockspeed, just like a cpu, but you might need to upgrade the cooling even more to handle the heat to realise any gains.

BTW..Did you slip any AS Ceramique under the stock HS?
