Default Agp 4x Vs 8x

I'm looking at building a new rig and I'm thinking of going with a Intel Dothan Mobile. But my problem seems to be that the DFI motherboard that supports this chip only has AGP4x because it uses a older chipset. So I'm wondering how much of a difference agp 8x makes over 4x. I mean from benchmarks I have seen and whatnot this chip on the dfi board can easily blow away a FX-55 with some tweaking. So I would really just like to know what the differences are between 4x and 8x. Thanks ahead of time.

Supposedly todays cards are not able to use the bandwidth provided by AGP 8x, let alone the headrom built into PCI express.

I don't think it will cripple your scores if thats what you are wondering..

Well, seeing as 8 > 4, I would say that having an AGP 8x motherbpoard would mean that your graphix would be twice as good. I mean, numbers don't lie, right?.

Not really, it's all about bandwidth. The 4x vs. 8x has nothing to do with the actual speed, but with the size of the pipe all those textures are flowing through.

This was a serious discussion with someone asking for help, I didn't see the humor in your comment...

Next time try and make it funny, then we can laugh with you, and not at you
