| Apex Techie Wannabe | I've searched previous posts and found that my mobo and card are compatible (some one had pretty close to the same set up as me), but I'm still having problems. Every time I load drivers (svc pk 2 doesit automatically 4 me) 4 the card and reboot 2 activate, my monitor (VGA) acts like the system is turned off and there's no feed. No errors are displayed and I have to uninstall in safe mode. I've tried a variety of different drivers, from the nVidia website and the boot disk w/ the same result. It seems that the AGP slot is fine b/c it reads the card, what type it is, and what driver is installed. I've tried using a VGA->DVI adapter on the card w/ the same result. I tested the memory and it came out fine. I bought the card 4 my Compaq (1.2 celeron), and pulled it out 2 use in my new system I'm trying to build. My question to u is my video card fried and do I need a new one (lokking @ the ATI 9800's) or am I missing something glaringly obvious? My system specs are as follows- Mobo: Shuttle AN35N Ultra (nForce2 Ultra chipset) CPU: AMD 3200+ Mem: 1Gb DDR PC2700 Kingston RAM Video Card: GeForce FX 5600XT HD's: x1 40Gb @ 7200 rpm, x1 100Gb @ 6400rpm OS: Office XP Pro -Lemme know if u need more info to help u reply, thanx!!!!!!!!!!! |

![]() ![]() | If the card is working fine in VGA mode, it should work excellent in 1280x1024 etc.. A fresh install of Windows would probably be best, but DC works wonders ( reigns terror) upon old your old drivers, also be sure to uninstall from the add/remove programs tab in the control pannel after cleaning the old ones.

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I tried both suggestions, and both were great ideas. GF, I totally hadn't thot of that; leave it to a noob. N e way, after the fresh install of XP(like my 6th now on this system) I think it is the video card. The same problem occurs time and time again; no matter what I do. I think I'll get a FX 5900XT in a few weeks. This will give me a great excuse to justify the purchase. This is my first ever mod and diy and the going was relatively slow to start, but i've picked up the pace here recently and am learning more and more every day. Thanx 4 the video card help fellas. I'll try to start a project worklog soon. BTW I live in des moines now, GF. U reminded me to update my profile info!!!!
