They work together to render the graphics on your screen. Its called SLI (scalable link interface)

"An NVIDIA SLI system includes a PCI Express motherboard that supports two physical connectors that are capable of having two NVIDIA-based PCI Express graphics cards plugged into them. Joined by the NVIDIA SLI connector, the two graphics cards power one monitor, delivering earth-shattering PC performance." -NVIDIAS SITE

excuse @ hardocp post , but they are good pics...

Well how ever much two 6600GT/6800GT/6800U's are worth plus the cost of the motherboard to handle it. Of course the other things along with it...

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
2x6800GT
64 3500+
1gb of ram......

If all you want is dual monitor, most decent cards on the market today have dual monitor support.. If you're talking SLI, you only have to have 1 monitor, both cards are outputted to that.

a 6600 will support 2 monitors even with sli enabled even for the 6600s your looking at a pretty penny prolly around a grand for a full sli system with just the bare essentials

I read a review in 'CustomPC' with the 6800GT in SLi. They were runnin dual's on FarCry and the improvments were minimal, I 6800GT 70-90 Fps single on full and about 90-100 Fps with duals on full

Personally i think SLi is a bit of a rip off (Just my view) You may wanna go for the SLi 3dfx's pic, Pretty cheap, Pretty damn cool too

Has anyone tested the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe board. I didnt see any reviews on PR. Altough I may be blind. This looks to be a good board. Just looking around. Since my next board would be AMD 939 anywayz, might as well try out the SLi.

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...131-517&DEPA=0

I shall look at other review sites, but just curious if anyone here has had experience with this board.

EDIT: Not sure if that link is going to work for some reason.

His MX400 must taint his perception...

But I digress, you can state nVidia SLI is the best, but think about it, how many people can afford two video cards, from $300 to $500 each? I don't think SLI is very economical at all, but then again, I am always on a budget for my PC upgrades.

I think people are looking at SLI wrong. I see it as a perfect upgrade. You buy a singe 6800 today with sli support, and in 2 years when you cant keep up you snag up annother one for cheap and enjoy your 50-70% performance increase.
