Default ATi --> NVIDIA....cleaning out drivers

I know this will make me sound like a n00b lol but hang with me.
I just got my PNY6800GT and currently have a Radeon 9700 Pro. How should i go about making sure all the ATi drivers are gone? When i remove the drivers, it usually recognizes the card as a 9700Pro when I start the computer up again?
If there is a previous post about this issue, can someone post me a link? Thanks for your time and consideration.

Most gamers format their PC at this point for max stability reasons. There is a program I believe called "driver cleaner" that you can use if you wish not to format.

You should format, I was a lil impressed with game performance before, but after a reformat and installing the newest drivers, I was able to play with no hiccups in any game on any setting I threw at it! ( Just the framerate that varried slightly between resolutions depending on the game I play ) Opt for a reformat, transfer your files to a secondary drive, you'll enjoy the speed boost over drivercleaner.

LoL tek, that's true
Ok just a ques. I installed Driver Cleaner 3. I have ATI Control Center instead of Control Panel. Should I just use the ATI Software Uninstall Utility?

As stated in my guide, use the removal tool from ATi then proceed to driver cleaning.

Just follow my guide exactly and your transition will be smooth and uneventful.

Ok, so which drivers should I install? PNY's site has 61.76 drivers up, but NVidia has 66.93 drivers.

did you restart the comp? if yes, and if the tray icon is really that important to you, reinstalling the drivers might work.
