Default Pny 6800 Gt

I got mine a few days ago and I'm having some problems. I think I'm getting some slow speeds, I clocked it to 400/1100 but I couldn't even tell the difference. Last time I did an Aquamark, I got 33,000, and I ran 3dmark05 a minute ago and it always slugs (1fps-2fps) on the last test which seems to be a repeat of the one before. On the first test the fps stays in the 8-20 area, that's right , 8! It seems like I should be getting more performance out of this card.

What's wrong?

Well start with the simple things. Did you unistall your old drivers? Did you use the newest drivers from nvidia? Thats just a start.

I reformatted when I got it. I used the drivers that were on the disk, they may be outdated. I'm downloading the lastest drivers from Nvidia now.

Remember never to procrastinate a RMA; do them right away when you still have the chance.

You have a software/ driver issue most likely..what card was in there before? there is an order for doing it as you may know now, It will kill performance just like what you described if done wrong.

Tekxoid wrote a procedure, but I can't find the link at the moment.

Don't forget to use Driver Cleaner to get rid of the nasties, and delete any old ATI or NVIDIA folders from your C driver before reinstalling the new ones.

Before I reformatted I had a kickass Geforce 2! I uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers on my system today, and reinstalled them, shouldn't that have fixed the problem? What can I do now?

It's probly because I have Cool n Quiet enabled. It underclocks to 1000Mhz, and back up to 2200Mhz when doing something.

Yeah that could be the problem - run 3dmark and post your score for comparison........dont focus on just one test for now.

This might not help ya at all, but you can try RMAing and get a Gigabyte 6800 GT, mine's running like a beast and I didnt have to reformat when I swapped it out with my Ti 4800 & installed new drivers. It worked flawlessly right away, even now that its clocked at 430/1100 w/out watercooling.

MataChuah,
I recently just purchased the same video card as you have. The card performs really well. I also have mine overclocked to 401MGHz/1.1GHz and the card is definitely performing as an Ultra would. If you dont get the expected performance soon, do yourself a favor and either RMA or return to it to where you purchased it and get yourself a good one. These cards are awesome.
Good Luck,
h-d

Hey, what should my AGP bus be? I think I have it at 75 through my bios, and that's as high as it goes.

Its supposed to be at 66, 75 can fry a card.

Also, what are your system specs: (power supply, CPU, and RAM)?
