Default Unlocking Geforce 6800 Guide

There are alot of hard to find guides out there that involve soldering and hardware modding. Well now with the new rivatuner you can do it software style with no flashing. First make sure your 6800 is getting enough power cuz this will drain more then normally on it, i would recommend giving it its own line just for it, no other attacked devices. Also have the most recent Drivers which can be found HERE Now open up rivatuner, if you dont have it get it HERE Once opened you will see this

now click the arrow circled above, you will see this

click the card circled there. Next will come this

click the Nvstrap tab at the top as circled there.

Now heres the tricky part, at the bottom click install, then click "allow enable hardware masked units", press "YES" to the warning, then change the dropbar to custom, then click customize. Now you will be at this screen right here

Select the missing pipes and vertex shaders by selecting the ones missing, basicly make it look like mine above. Press ok quit and restart. If everything went ok you should get a MASSIVE increase in performance.

Now beware alot of times the pipes are disabled for good reasons such as damaged pipes and what not. Now if you pc wont boot into windows without giving you crazy lockups then press f8 alot before windows boots and go into vga mode and enter rivatuner and turn the pipes off. If your just getting some artifacts in games you may be able to deal with it (for example everyone in awhile a texture looks funny) but in my case and my friends they were able to be enabled with no problems.

Oh and heres all the worning bs, doing this may void your warranty, i am not responsible for any damages done by this guide, do at your own risk. Even though no one i know who has done this trick has actually damaged their hardware i guess it is a slight possibility of it happening. Doing this will also void your warranty. But since has anyone here at pr cared about our warrantys

Thanks, Mot. I'm going to go home and try this on my friend's 6800. I'll post later as to how it went.

Great little guide mot. I looked for hours one day a while back on this stuff with no luck (but found out myself what they all meant ) I tried this with my graphics card 6800nu by PNY and when I unlocked everything it would get another 1500-2000 in aquamark. But it would never run 3d mark (any of them even at stock speeds unlocked). But it did run NFSU2, COD, and CAD software great but crashed every 30 seconds in Doom 3. So those are my results.

I unlocked my Evga 6800 the same day I took it out of the box. This thing runs flawlessly and I was surprised to find that all the pipelines were intact. The extra pipelines boosted my 3dmark 05 scores by about 450 points.

Great guide, Mot. You should add that this only applies to the AGP versions. The PCI-E cards will not unlock as they use a different GPU.

I would also love to know if it's possible to unlock a Leadtek 6800 PCI-e card. I've been reading from various sites that there is no way to unlock the PCIe version, but I would like another opinion. Any ideas?
