Default ATi Silencer 2 no worky :(

Ok, here goes. I'm currently on my second ATI silencer 2 from newegg for my Connect3d 9600xt. For some reason, when i plug the 2 prong connector into the card, it doesnt work at all. yet the stock fan works just fine. this is the second cooler i've tried it on, so i doubt the cooler is faulty. would it be possible to take the connector off the stock HSF and graft it onto the silencer somehow? and if so, might that work?

Try connecting it to one of your molex connectors. running the 12v. See of that makes a difference

I would have tried connecting the 3 pole connector on the fan to my mobo via a fan wire extension cable I bought, but the problem is that the female connector on the cooler is too small for the male on the extension. :-/ would it be worth buying a 3pin fan->4pin molex adapter and then putting the connector from the extension onto the wire coming directly off the card? Also, for reference purposes, how much power does the silencer require? Just curious because the manual that came with it said it could just be connected to the card...but I guess that says something about the company who produced the card (Connect3D).

Sooo...anyone got ideas on this? sorry to have to bump it and everything, but i really need to figure this whole deal out very soon, as im getting a lot of artifacts in CSS and the only thing on the card right now is the stock HSF attached with a plastic zip tie

EDIT: wait a second, i was just reading some of the earlier posts and thought of something else. Right now, on the cooler there are both 2 and 3 pole female connectors, would it be possible to attach a 3pin ->molex converter onto the 3pole, assuming that the existing connector will fit into the converter, and then try using that? right now, like i originally said, i'm in a rather tight pickle, so additional responses would be very much appreciated.
