| I have a buddy with a totally dead end Celeron 1.3 system. It has some kind of half pint mobo with no AGP slot and an ok amount of generic ram. The video is shared memory, and he wishes to start playing BF1942. Obviously I am looking for a budget PCI vid card 64 megs that will allow low res and low detail play of some of the newer games. So far I have found the ATI 7500 and the GF4 MX420 in PCI flavors. i thought an 8500 might be in the cards, but I have not yet seen one anywhere. Any thoughts? Budget is <$150 CDN or about $90 US. Thanks! | ||

| if you can find those Xabre video cards in a PCI flava, they are super cheap for the features they offer, and they arent that bad (they have directx8.1 support, all the pixel shaders and stuff that the big boy video cards have, and priced less than some gf4 mx's with SDR no less!) plus saying you got a Xabre inside sure beats saying "nvidia" or "ati", and its an underdog chipset which means you will be unique at lan parties and in case modding forums ![]() Last edited by Fu3lman; 20-January-03 at 11:10 PM.. | ||

| Hey guys thanks for the opinions! My buddy has just ordered this: http://www.knowledgemicro.com/detail...ame=JAT-440P_V I have never had integrated video before. I know when I have installed audio cards into mobos with onboard sound, I have disabled the onboard sound in the bios. Is there a similar bios nudge for onboard graphics? I did a quick tour through his bios and did not see anyhting glaringly obvious. This is the mobo: ecs p6stmt I downloaded the mobo manual and it actually mentions pci graphics adapters (so I told my buddy to go ahead and order), but it said nothing about bios changes in order to do so. Maybe when you install a card, it automatically defaults to the PCI graphics adapter? Anyhow, anyone know? | ||
