Default yet another problem with my geforce 5200...

i "repaired" windows (according to its setup) and it no longer recognized my video card as anything by a normal manufacturer. It may have something to do with the one onboard, but its currently shut off through bios. The only other thing I can think of is to flash the video card bios which i dont know how to do.

i installed my drivers from the internet. Windows and my driver disc dont even recognize the card as anything other than "standard vga" or something to that extent.

Have you tried the drivers on the CD that (hopefully) came with the card?

I have found that the best way to deal with 5200's is to throw them away...

got to agree, the 5200 was a sh1T idea for a g-card. a ti 4200 was better than it, i went from a ti 4200 ti a 9800 pro, flashed it to a 9800xt, and its a greakin beast!!!!, they are getting pretty cheap, so jus save up some money and go for it!

is there any sort of easy way i could flash the card's bios? ive got a couple of utils but they havent done anything for me so far (they just open up in msdos mode and close). this whole not being able to scroll right thing gets annoying really fast.

the 5200 is a crap card, its really designed for budget systems, grandmas computer, and your mom and dads internet/mircosoft word computer. the arnt really for gamers. go with a 9800pro, u wont be disappointed.

You are going to need to load the VIA 4-in-1 Chipset Drivers before your system
will be able to have anything more advanced than a "Standard VGA Device"

Try loading those, then installing the latest drivers available for your card.
