| Apex Master Tech | I just got the PNY 6800 from CompUSA for $200(Black Friday sale). Best $200 I spent in a while. I scored 8800 on 3dmark out of the box. 8900 after a minor OC to 350 core 750 mem. There is also a hack through Rivatuner that makes it possible to open the extra 4 pipes and vertex. I did it and got nearly 11000 3dmark03. I had some artifacting though. It's not a guaranteed unlock. 6800 over the 9800 Pro all the way. |

| Apex Master Tech | I know there's no way that a basic 6800 will get near a GT in benchies or probably in real world FPS. I was just offering info on the card I have for comparison. The only reason I didn't wait for the GT is I got the card for a great price and it trounces my previous card. If you're asking between the vanilla 6800 or 9800 Pro, I say go 6800. I would say unless you're getting an awesome deal on the vanilla 6800, wait and get the GT. You won't regret it. |

wait for dell to put another 20% sale on it or some other large number. happens when a 20% off sale is on pc peripheraries (sp?). i post them when they come up so you'll probably see it in the deals and steals forum when i see it. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

IMO, no. The BFG 6800 GT OC will generally OC to near or better than 6800 Ultra OC speeds. However, i have read that the ULTRA uses faster RAM (true? I dunno).

| Hoe-lier than Thou | For the GT vs. Ultra thing; GT's seem to be doing around 400mhz on the core avg with some hitting 420 (stock cooling), GT's also seem to have trouble getting above 1.12ghz on the RAM my Ultra is 450 / 1.22; the others I've seen are doing around 440-450 core and around 1.2 on the VRAM. With voltage boosts and WC I'm hoping for 510 core, 1.3 mem |

I'm going to install a vga silencer and thermal probe and see how fast i can get (at this rate, it might be after the new year...work is whuppin me good....hopefully it'll slow down a bit after the holidays...um...work, that is, not the OC's )

| Apex Master Tech | First, you need Rivatuner. Get it here. Second, this may or may not kill your card. I will not be held responsible if it does damage your card. I doubt you will hurt it, but there is a chance. At your own risk. Open Rivatuner. Click on the customize button on the target adapter and open Low level System settings. Click on the NVStrap driver tab. Check the checkbox that says "Allow enabling hardware masked units." Click customize button. You should see the table with the pixel pipes and vertexes listed. the ones without a check next to them are disabled. Click on them so a checkmark appears next to them to enable them. Click the OK button and the apply button next. restart when it asks you and run a 3d program and watch for artifacts. I looped 3dmark03 for 5 times to check for artifacts. If you have no artifacts, you are fine. If you have artifacts, try just one or the other or turn them back off altogether. Good luck. |
