every card is different, and highly dependent on cooling, as well as system oc.

there is no answer to your question.

reading reviews can tell you what other like cards have netted.....but won't tell you jack about your card.

You could pump it up from 300MHz (default) to 400MHz core, 650MHz to 800MHz memory, possibly, It all depends on cooling, brand, lucky strike, and system specifications. But Putwig is right it all depends, and remember MHz isnt everything, eg: Geforce 3 Ti 500 Overclocked anything higher then 240mhz (default) on the core would cause performance decrease.

so if you overclock it to the point where it cause a performance decrease, how can you tell? is that when you start getting instabiliy?

Visually you'll notice "tearing"...triangular light spots on screen. And "snow" small light spots on screen. And rendering will occasionally pause while the card dumps memory. And stability will suffer. The hotter the card gets...the worse it gets.

In theory, the Gainward Golden Sample 4600 should run faster than most other brands of 4600's. Gainward uses very fast DDR ram and uses ram sinks to cool it. It's one of the few cards that ships with overclocking enabled out of the box.

Theory doesn't always hold up in real life though.

I know theory doesn't hold up, when does it?? I was just curious, and probably won't push it any more than it is when I raise the fsb. It was an EXSPENSIVE card, but the only one I could find at the time with twin DVI connections, and I don't want to screw it up
